Job description

Position: Graduate Teaching Assistant
Location: Leeds
Salary: £89-£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education? Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of secondary school students? The Education Network is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to support our dynamic teaching teams. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in education and want to gain hands-on experience in a secondary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide in-class support to students, assisting with lessons, activities, and individual learning needs.
  2. Work closely with teachers to help deliver engaging and effective lessons in various subjects.
  3. Support students with additional learning needs, providing tailored assistance as required.
  4. Supervise small groups of students during lessons, ensuring they stay focused and engaged.
  5. Help with the preparation of teaching materials, resources, and classroom displays.
  6. Assist in managing student behavior and promoting a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  7. Contribute to the academic progress of students by supporting them with coursework, revision, and exam preparation.
  8. Support extra-curricular activities and school events as needed.
Essential Qualifications:
  1. A recent graduate (or expected graduate) with a degree in Education or other related fields.
  2. Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate secondary school students.
  3. A genuine passion for education and supporting young people in their learning journey.
  4. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
  5. A patient, compassionate, and approachable attitude towards students.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Experience working with young people, either in a tutoring, mentoring, or volunteer capacity.
  2. Familiarity with the National Curriculum and secondary education practices.
  3. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  4. A desire to pursue a career in teaching or education.
