Graduate R&D Engineer

R&D Engineer required for a manufacturer based in Chesterfield. The successful candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and ideally experience in a similar role, although not essential. As an R&D Engineer, you will support the successful execution of technical projects by applying your expertise in mechanical solutions and materials knowledge to deliver cutting-edge solutions.

R&D Engineer Position Overview

Ensuring the successful execution of projects and achievement of goals:

1. Develop and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to drive the development of new products and processes.
3. Conduct research, experiments, and analysis to develop and improve products and optimise manufacturing processes.
4. Stay current with industry trends and advancements and apply this knowledge to enhance our product portfolio.
5. Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity.

R&D Engineer Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.

1. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
2. Strong understanding of product design principles and ability to collaborate effectively with design teams.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
4. Solid understanding of Mechanical/Materials engineering principles and concepts.
5. Experience/familiarity with engineering software and tools, such as 3D Modelling and Autodesk Inventor.
6. Practical ability and hands-on experience.
7. Versatility and eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and concepts.

Ideal Experience (Not essential)

1. 2+ years of experience in a relevant industry sector.
2. Experience in machine shop practices, machine design principles, and 3D printing.
3. Familiarity with communicating fundamental principles and their relevance in manufacturing processes.
4. Previous work experience or knowledge of Mechanical, Refractory, or Ceramic production.
5. Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

R&D Engineer Position Remuneration

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Job Type: Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 4.30pm

Salary: Competitive salary & benefits (25k - 33k)
