The role

You will have a great opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge gained during your degree/masters – or to build on any placement or post-graduation commercial experience you have gained.

With support from senior colleagues, you will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of tasks including:

  1. Assisting with the completion of hydrological assessments involving calculations, modelling and reporting,
  2. Undertaking risk assessments relating to issues such as flood risk, water shortages and pollution,
  3. Working as part of a team to develop technical solutions to significant risks identified,
  4. Contributing to the outline design of SuDS systems including modelling using Flow Causeway software.
  5. Undertaking routine monitoring of groundwater levels, surface water flows and the quality of both surface waters and groundwater quality,
  6. Contributing to the preparation of reports such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) water chapters.

About you

If you are interested in applying and you have a full UK driving licence we would love to hear from you. In order to be successful, we would envisage that you would be able to demonstrate the following:

  1. A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification which focuses on at least one out of hydrology, flood risk, or earth sciences or equivalent.
  2. The drive and desire to build a successful career in this field.
  3. Strong IT skills, including MS Office; and any use of modelling software (ArcGIS, QGIS, Flow Causeway, Goldsim) would be a great advantage.
  4. Good numeracy, written and verbal communication, and timekeeping abilities.
  5. A desire to learn, and the ability to problem solve and work independently when required.
