We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Chemical Process Engineer to join our Cement and Packed Products Team at our Aberthaw site, close to Rhoose, Vale of Glamorgan in South Wales. The role is easily commutable from various surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities
As part of the UK and Ireland Cement and Packed division, you as a Graduate Chemical Process Engineer will participate in our 3-year graduate scheme, helping you to make decisions to deliver business impact, present powerfully, communicate effectively, and many more key skills. You will play an important role in keeping UK infrastructure moving, contributing towards the successful production of cementitious products.
Key Focus of Graduate Chemical Process Engineer Position:
- Gain a detailed understanding of cement engineering, manufacturing, and production via a dedicated Tarmac development programme and the CRH international technical programme.
- Be integrated into the production team, using your knowledge to put theory into practice to impact decisions made within the business.
- Contribute to successful continuous plant performance, addressing production and process bottlenecks for improved output, stability, and environmental aspects.
- Participate in important projects to help improve operations and deliver added value, such as CO2 projects aligned with Company and Global strategy on our Journey to Net Zero.
- Learn and contribute to the key priorities of the Production team, from raw materials to finished cement and the processes involved.
- Work within the Production team to understand all positions and accountabilities, including working shifts for a period with the 24x7 shift teams.
- Assist in tracking key process parameters and analyze data to optimize plant performance, making recommendations for modifications.
- Gain knowledge and practical application of all safety policies, procedures, and practices, actively leading and driving safety standards and improvements.
- Involve in root cause analysis to understand associated costs and business impacts resulting from unplanned plant downtime.
- While your first 3 years will primarily be based on one Plant, you will then be expected to gain valuable experience on Plants across our UK and Ireland Cluster or participate in an exciting international assignment.

To be successful for this role, the ideal candidate for the position of Graduate Chemical Process Engineer will have, or be able to demonstrate:
ESSENTIAL Qualification:
- Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Willing to work in different locations across UK and Ireland (and international assignments in the future).
DESIRABLE Skills:
- Organizational, Communication, and Analytical skills.
- Passionate about working safely.
- Enthusiastic about starting a career in the building materials industry!
- Willingness to be hands-on within the operation.
- Keen to learn and develop within our business.
