Job description

We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader to shape and deliver our payments strategy within the Corporate Bank. As Global Head of Payments Product, you will be accountable for defining and delivering a best-in-class payments offering that meets the evolving needs of our clients.

The ideal candidate brings a deep knowledge of the payments landscape, including regulatory insight, competitive positioning, and emerging market developments. You will have a strong track record of leading high-performing teams, delivering measurable outcomes, and thinking creatively to solve complex challenges.

In this role, you will set the global product agenda, collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across regions and functions, and ensure our payments proposition remains both commercially competitive and operationally robust. You will be responsible for the risk profile of the payments business, ensuring compliance and solid governance are embedded throughout the product lifecycle.

Purpose of the role

To develop and manage the success of specific financial products and services, providing in-depth expertise on a particular product line, bridging the gap between product development, marketing, sales, and customer service.

Accountabilities

  1. Provision of SME expertise on specific products and services to customers and colleagues, including features, functionalities, benefits, limitations, risks and compliance.
  2. Identification of market trends, new features, regulatory requirements and potential risks, and analysis of data obtained from sales figures and customer feedback, to support the product development process, and communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders to improve product offerings.
  3. Response to customer inquiries, resolution of issues, and provision of guidance on product usage.
  4. Presentation of the advantages and features of the product to potential customers, building trust and encouraging adoption.
  5. Assistance with the development and execution of marketing materials for the product, such as brochures, presentations, and online content.
  6. Participation in training sessions and workshops to share product knowledge and expertise with colleagues and other stakeholders.
  7. Participation in events, conferences, and other networking opportunities to showcase the product and generate interest.

Managing Director

  1. To manage a large, complex or diverse function and take accountability for the strategic direction of the function to significantly strengthen successful and efficient businesses and contribute to the strategic initiatives of the Barclays Group.
  2. Lead and mentor high performing teams and embed a performance culture aligned to the values of the business.
  3. Drive and achieve overall success and/or competitiveness of a business division by influencing senior leaders and committees.
  4. Strategically assess and manage risks to protect the business division/function and growth.
  5. Influence company policy and develop functional procedures in conjunction with senior leaders/strategic positions across the business.
  6. Demonstrate interpretative thinking for innovative solutions in complex situations and conceptual thinking in completely new situations.
  7. Exercise management authority to make significant/complex business and strategic decisions that impact the Barclays Group, business division, or function.
  8. Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally and foster growth for Barclays business.
  9. Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of how business divisions and functions integrate with the Group to achieve the overall business objectives alongside industry theories and practices within own discipline.
  10. Maintain broad and comprehensive functional expertise and significant product knowledge.
  11. Accountable for the control and governance agenda of the business division/function.
  12. Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays.
