Job Summary: The Global Data Protection Specialist will be responsible for supporting Capco's global data protection strategy and implementation to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations. The Specialist will report to our Global Data Protection Officer and work closely with various departments to ensure that personal data of clients, employees, and third parties is protected and managed in accordance with legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Global Data Protection Officer in all matters relating to the protection of Capco’s worldwide client and employee personal data, as well as that of any relevant third parties.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to guide the business to be compliant with relevant data protection laws at all times.
  • Coordinate a business-wide review of Records of Processing Activities (ROPA), educating all legal entities to ensure they maintain up-to-date documentation that accurately reflects the personal data they process, as required by law.
  • Support group stakeholders in conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIA) and other relevant data protection risk assessments, including when personal data is utilized in GenAI applications.
  • Investigate data breaches, advise on breach resolution, and support the Global Data Protection Officer in accordance with established organizational data breach processes.
  • Provide operational support for data subject enquiries and manage responses to Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR).
  • Communicate any identified data protection risks with stakeholders and support appropriate remedial activities.
  • Support the Global Data Protection Officer with procurement and due diligence activities across vendor, client, and system reviews, providing data protection assurance as required, including the review of relevant data protection schedules within vendor and client contracts.
  • Develop and deliver tailored training sessions and workshops to improve the business understanding and application of data protection requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective tools to assist business areas with ongoing data protection compliance activities, including supporting the Global Data Protection Officer in management reporting.
  • Conduct data protection compliance assessments and implement improvement plans, including the production of compliance reports for senior stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

  • Robust understanding and demonstrable interest in data protection, including an in-depth knowledge of GDPR and some understanding of other relevant data protection laws and regulations applicable across Capco geographies.
  • Good knowledge of record-keeping legislation.
  • Proven experience working with colleagues to deliver, design, and implement pragmatic and risk-appropriate controls.
  • Proven experience in business process documentation and improvements.
  • Comfortable and confident in delivering training and awareness programs, including in face-to-face and on-line environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Good communication skills to develop, design, and present knowledge support materials to users.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and tenacity to create confidence.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a multi-skilled team and coordinate offshore resources to meet business commitments.

Qualifications:

  • Professional certification in data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) is desirable.
