Your impact:
As a Geotechnical Laboratory Technician specializing in Advanced Testing, you will be at the forefront of conducting cutting-edge soil testing, including rock classification when needed. Collaborating with our Advanced Testing Team Leader and Research and Development Engineer, you will perform a range of tests such as monotonic/cyclic triaxial, direct/ring shear, controlled rate of strain/incremental load, direct/cyclic simple shear, resonant column, and bender element testing. Your role will extend to ensuring quality assurance and presenting data using our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
The job:
- Participate in health and safety initiatives or training.
- Prepare, test, and analyze soil samples, including rock samples using laboratory tools or testing equipment.
- Conduct various advanced tests in a timely manner as required.
- Record, process, and manage test data for final reports, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Monitor industry requirements for expansion or improvements in laboratory testing standards, conducting research and development to explore new testing methodologies or equipment.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Actively collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on testing progress or results.
- Support offshore labs and provide after-hours assistance if necessary.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide technical expertise and guidance on laboratory testing.
The person:
- Experience in a similar role is essential.
- Preferred degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Environmental Science, or related fields.
- Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred.
