Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the geotechnical aspects for the HS2 Track Contract, including Calvert Depot. The track systems geotechnical works include piling and earthworks at Calvert as well as the checking of any geotechnical information handed over from Main Works to Track systems contractor and assessing any geotechnical aspects coming from the Alliance.
2. Responsible for analysing the handover data from the Main Works for the frost protection layer as well as the subgrade for aspects such as heave, settlements and constructability geotechnical topics for our track.
3. Manage and lead any geotechnical aspects related to Calvert depot, including piling works and earthworks movements on the site, providing the foundation required for the IMD building and railhead.
4. Attend weekly meetings with the construction team, broader design team, and client in Birmingham, Calvert and/or London.
5. Attend/chair meetings for geotechnical issues such as Geohazards that become apparent during construction and provide technical support for their mitigation.
6. Support the Client with identifying change, risk and opportunities and constantly strive for efficiencies and cost savings.
7. Scope review of construction stage GI and surveys.
8. Aid in the study of optimization and liaison with the commercial, planning, design delivery teams, and designers.
9. Support the link and coordination with construction teams for management of geotechnical related issues.
10. Provide technical input and support to relevant commercial communications (SNCs, NCRs, CEs, Departures, etc.).
11. Close liaison with the Engineering Managers to ensure the delivery on time, optimized and in accordance with the Client's requirements.
12. Close out geotechnical issues within area of responsibility in a timely manner.
13. Review monitoring reports and certificates. Support progressive technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.

Key Skills and Experience

1. Degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering.
2. Knowledge of key aspects of geotechnical design and construction methodology.
3. Knowledge of settlement and heave analysis on tracks, Rayleigh waves and associated mitigation measures.
4. Good knowledge of relevant geotechnical standards and their applicability for design construction.
5. Experience in piling design/construction.
6. Experience in pile testing and interpretation.
7. Experience in managing and liaising with third parties and other contractors.
8. Very good communication skills.
