Job description

As we move into AMP 8 and continue with our growth plans across the UK & Ireland, we're interested in hearing expressions of interest from Geophysicists that are looking for their next career opportunity in the coming weeks and months.

Stantec UK is looking for a geophysicist to join our expanding team in our Reading or Bristol offices (other southern England offices may also be considered). The geophysicist will carry out and supervise magnetometry surveys for a range of projects, ensuring that they are completed to a high standard. The team carries out surveys across the UK, with a focus on our major water, highways, and infrastructure clients.

The Geophysical Survey Team is part of Stantec’s wider Archaeology and Heritage Team, which provides high-quality historic environment consultancy advice and delivery of technical documents for all types of schemes, from small through to nationally important schemes, and there would be opportunities to gain experience in this area as part of this role.

As a Geophysicist, you will conduct and oversee magnetometry surveys for various projects, primarily in Southern England. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Developing Written Schemes of Investigation
  2. Liaising with team members, clients, and stakeholders
  3. Travelling to survey sites
  4. Collecting high-quality data
  5. Maintaining equipment
  6. Processing and interpreting data
  7. Preparing comprehensive reports
  8. Archiving project data

You will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for and sound multi-period knowledge of British archaeology and legislation, planning policy and guidance relevant to geophysical surveys. You will also have some professional experience in magnetometry surveys, proficiency in software like TerraSurvey, a proven ability to interpret geophysical data and write reports, and membership (or working towards membership) of CIfA at Associate level. A full, clean UK driving license is also essential.

Whilst optional, experience of other geophysical surveys is desirable.
