Job description

GSL Education London Branch is looking for a Geography Subject Leader to join a thriving coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and dedicated educator to lead the Geography department, inspire students, and shape the future of Geography education at the school.

Responsibilities of the Geography Subject Leader:
  • Lead and develop the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons that motivate students.
  • Support and mentor Geography teachers, sharing best practices and resources.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, ensuring excellent outcomes in Geography.
  • Work closely with school leadership to develop the Geography curriculum.
  • Organise field trips and extra-curricular activities to enhance student learning.
  • Promote a passion for Geography across the school community.
Requirements for the Geography Subject Leader:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching Geography at secondary level.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire both students and staff.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Geography.
  • Experience in developing curriculum plans and assessments.
  • A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • A proactive approach to continuous professional development.
