General Manager

We are an award-winning packaging manufacturer based in Hampshire, providing packaging solutions to a wide range of markets, including automotive, defence, and engineering sectors. We are now looking for a General Manager to work alongside and support our current Managing Director to take the business to the next stage of its journey, as we have strong aspirations for growth in the future.

BASIC SALARY: GBP50,000 - GBP60,000

JOB DESCRIPTION: General Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager - packaging manufacturing, packaging solutions

Reporting to the Managing Director, as our General Manager, you will be directly responsible for the 3 current department managers: Office, Design, and Production. You will also be responsible for the other 20 members of staff and resolving any customer service issues, liaising with 3rd parties, Health and Safety, maintenance issues, design, and any disciplinary issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage up to 20 members of staff across Office, Design, and Production.
2. Maintain minimum raw material stock levels.
3. Develop and execute machine and transport maintenance plans, organizing preventative maintenance visits.
4. Oversee site and building maintenance.
5. Responsible for people-management, recruitment, motivation, training, and development staffing responsibilities.
6. Manage and ensure health and safety compliance.
7. Manage and control all expenditure within agreed budgets.
8. Maintain the ISO Quality Assurance Accreditation Programme.
9. Provide leadership, strategic direction, and facilities management to the unit.
10. Set high personal and professional standards in line with company policy.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

We would be delighted to receive applications from individuals who meet the following brief:

1. Have a proven track record of general, operational, or manufacturing management, preferably from the packaging industry, although this is not essential.
2. Have some customer-facing experience.
3. Not afraid to be a hands-on Manager.
4. Are an organised, yet flexible individual.
5. Possess knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001.
6. Used to working with and developing processes.
7. Possess drive, enthusiasm, and hold an air of authority.
8. Have good interpersonal skills.
9. Have the ability to work autonomously, combined with a methodical and careful approach to responsibilities as General Manager.
