Job description

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.

The Opportunity

Plan International is looking for a co-ordinator to support our General Counsel for 6 months.

This post provides executive support, planning, administration and coordination for the General Counsel and, where capacity permits, her Direct Reports and the wider Governance, Legal, Assurance & Risk Group. The role also assists, where required, with the planning, logistics, and event-management for in-person meetings, both within and outside of the United Kingdom.

As the GC Co-ordinator, you will work very closely with General Counsel and also engage with the Leadership Team and the whole Governance, Legal, Assurance & Risk Group. You will be part of the Global Hub, reporting to General Counsel and will plan, co-ordinate and manage her calendar, develop agendas and materials for key meetings, assist with financial administration, and provide broad administrative support.

The Individual

We are looking for someone who is good with people, a great team player, excellent communicator, and who is pro-active with strong administrative and organisational skills.

You will need an understanding and appreciation of the importance of the work carried out by the Governance, Legal, Assurance and Risk Group, as well as: experience providing effective personal support to multiple senior people in multiple time zones, whilst delivering on other priorities in a fast-paced environment; high proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and online collaboration tools; and preferably you will also have experience of working with board members, senior executives and legal/company secretariat teams.

You will also have excellent attention to detail, be able to work independently to a high standard, be a fast learner, calm and resourceful under pressure, and be diplomatic and discrete.

Please respond to the requirements of the role in your cover letter.
