Job description

Are you an outstanding General ASC Teacher – Key Stages 3 and 4, with extensive experience of working with Autistic children/young people in an education setting and a passion for inclusion, enabling all children to overcome barriers to learning?

We are seeking a proactive, resourceful, and dynamic General ASC KS3 and KS4 (Secondary) Teacher to work across the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum. You will collaborate with our specialist teachers in Art, Design/DT, PE, Maths, and English, where appropriate, ensuring a well-rounded and supportive learning experience for every pupil.

Spring – Summer 2025

You should be self-motivated with a creative approach to curriculum delivery and have the skills to continuously improve the learning experience for our pupils. You should have experience of working with young people with Autism and complex needs and understand what approaches work well and how building positive relationships are key.

The position of General ASC Teacher – Key Stages 3 and 4 has been created to support the growth of the school and the needs of our pupils. It is a great opportunity to be part of a team providing the very best possible educational opportunities for our pupils within a nurturing and supportive setting.

Our school

Coombe House School is an independent special school that provides education for pupils aged 5 to 19 with SEMH and ASD and associated difficulties. All pupils on roll have an EHCP and the school uses a therapeutic approach to support pupils with their individual difficulties. Everything the school does is based on the formation and maintenance of positive relationships and viewing all behaviour as communication.

As a General ASC Teacher – Key Stage 3 and 4, you will work in an immensely rewarding, although often challenging environment, contributing to supporting the development of social, life, and independence skills and truly making a difference in the lives of pupils.

To truly meet their needs and set them up for successful adult lives, we think beyond conventional education and meet their broader holistic potential and help to influence the society that they are part of to be more connected, inclusive, and compassionate.

All staff at Coombe House School demonstrate compassion, understanding, and flexibility in their approach, ensuring progression is central to all lessons while giving our pupils the confidence to grow as they progress. We believe passionately in supporting and nurturing our pupils as well as aspiring to provide them with outstanding and creative learning opportunities.

If you are seeking to be different and have a desire to create an individualised approach to learning as a teacher, please complete the application process.

We welcome visits from prospective applicants ahead of the closing date – please contact Claire Taylor, Assistant HR Manager on 01747 449858, to discuss a potential date.
