Job description

Role: GDS consultant

Location: London

Type: Permanent

Work from office: 3 days weekly

Must Have:

  1. Experience in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks.
  2. Familiarity with web development, UI/UX principles, and cloud technologies.
  3. Familiarity with GDS Service Standards and the Digital Service Assessment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Framework Implementation & Advisory: Advise clients on the application of the GDS framework to their digital service delivery, ensuring alignment with government digital strategies and policies. Assist in the implementation of GDS principles, including Agile methodologies, user-centered design, and iterative development.
  2. Digital Service Design: Work with clients to design and develop digital services that are user-friendly, accessible, and compliant with GDS standards. Lead the development of service blueprints, user journeys, and wireframes.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government officials, internal teams, and third-party vendors to gather requirements, define scope, and ensure smooth project execution. Facilitate discussions and workshops to align stakeholders around common goals.
  4. Compliance & Governance: Ensure that all digital services comply with government regulations, policies, and security standards. Monitor progress against GDS assessments and audits to ensure compliance at every stage of delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working with government digital services and GDS frameworks. Proven track record of delivering digital transformation projects in a government or public sector environment.
  2. Technical Skills: Knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks. Familiarity with web development, UI/UX principles, and cloud technologies. Experience with user research and testing methodologies (accessibility).
  3. Soft Skills: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences. Problem-solving mindset with the ability to think critically and strategically. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  4. Certifications (desirable): GDS Certified.
