Job description

I am seeking a Garment Technologist to join a lovely fashion supplier in Berkshire!


Our client, a leading supplier of high-quality Childrenswear, is seeking a proactive and experienced Garment Technologist to join their dynamic team. Specific Childrenswear experience is not required for this role, just the ability to take a proactive approach to learning.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work with designers and manufacturers to ensure designs are technically feasible, cost-effective, and high-quality.
  2. Conduct fabric tests to meet industry standards and regional regulations (e.g., REACH, fibre composition, product safety). Manage risk, testing, and resolve non-compliance issues.
  3. Conduct fit sessions, assess construction, and provide detailed feedback for improvements.
  4. Maintain accurate specifications, patterns, measurements, and production guidelines for suppliers.
  5. Ensure garments meet specifications and quality standards throughout the production process.
  6. Communicate with suppliers regarding garment construction, materials, and quality, offering technical support.
  7. Inspect final garments to ensure they meet brand standards, conducting pre-shipment quality checks.
  8. Work closely with internal and external teams to solve technical challenges and ensure smooth production processes.

Who You Are:
  1. Multi-product expertise and experience working directly with factories.
  2. Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabric technology, and testing.
  3. Pattern-cutting knowledge and familiarity with grading are highly desirable.
  4. Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
  5. Confident in using Outlook, Excel, and Word with a willingness to expand technical skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
