Qualifications

The Role

The WNU Garment Technician will be reporting into the Head of Product Development and Production - working closely with the design and development teams to fulfil our mission of creating amazing quality, aspirational womenswear collections at great price points.

The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring the fit, performance and longevity of multi category garments and accessories, acting as the brand ambassador for product functionality and compliance.

You will have at least 5 years experience in a fashion brand, working across European suppliers with a strong understanding of pattern making, garment construction, testing and quality control to support on time delivery and our team quality goals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Fitting and development

  • Reviewing tech packs and advising on initial measurement specifications with design
  • Guide design on construction and finishing methods to achieve required product briefs and target costs set by Head of
  • Managing fit sessions, owning fit workbooks and communicating fit requirements to factories
  • Creating grading rules and setting production tolerances with sign off from Head Of
  • Tracking all pattern changes and construction notes through to pre shipment sign off
  • Reviewing all pre production style packs ahead of factory handover

Compliance, sustainability and documentation

  • Ensuring all relevant fabric and product documents are received and approved prior to production launches. Focusing on sustainability attributions where possible
  • Reviewing all fabric TDS at selection phase to highlight risks or limitations to product teams

Quality assurance

  • Managing wearer trials and wash test reporting
  • Collating above findings to propose wash care guidelines for approval
  • Establish and maintain quality standard for WNU product lines
  • Build manuals and ensure manufacturing partners are adhering to the expectations
  • Review protos, shoot samples, PPS and pre shipment samples for correct make and quality
  • Closely monitor manufacturer performance and identify areas for improvement wherever possible

Skills and experience required:

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a similar role within a premium/luxury environment. A relevant fashion design/ engineering degree is advantageous
  • Strong understanding and proven success in garment construction, pattern cutting, fabrications and production processes
  • Proficiency in pattern making softwares (Gerber, Lectra) would be an advantage
  • Technical understanding of fabrics, processing, finishes and trims
  • Clear and confident communication skills internally and externally, experience working closely with a diverse supply chain
  • Passionate about sustainability through design and aligned with WNU core values
  • Organised, detail orientated and a fierce product perfectionist
  • Enjoys collaborating and problem solving
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Willingness to travel when required
