Job description

Our Public Sector Client based in Newport requires 20 Gardeners to join their busy building Street scene & City Services Team. The positions are due to start at the end of March 25 and run for approximately 12 weeks.

The main purpose of the role is to work as directed to carry out all aspects of practical amenity horticulture to the highest standards as required by the Grounds Maintenance Specification and Team.

Using a high level of gardening skills to meet the horticultural standards within the specification and to undertake all horticultural operations, including:

1. Grassing cutting duties/strimming/hedge trimming/clearing leaves and litter
2. Planting out of bedding plants, trees and shrubs
3. Shrub bed planting and maintenance (e.g. pruning and division)
4. Application of chemicals
5. Maintenance, setting out and marking sports facilities
6. General soft landscaping works (e.g. top-soiling, cultivation, seeding, shrub-bed renewal etc.)

Candidates will also be required to operate and maintain vehicles, plant & machinery. Due to the nature of the work, a proven track record of two years practical experience in Ground Maintenance work or an NVQ Level one in Horticulture is required.

Candidates will need a valid driving license that has been held for a minimum of 12 months. The hourly rate for these roles is 12.59 per hour.
