The Company

Founded in 1604, Blundell’s is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged 11 – 18 years. Boasting excellent facilities and the best in pastoral care, we are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for all students. Based in 90 acres of beautiful Devon countryside, Blundell’s fosters a friendly and open environment where both students and staff can thrive.

We are now looking for a Gardener to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, averaging 30 hours per week (working four days per week between March and October and three days per week between November and February).

The Role

As a Gardener, you will carry out a range of gardening and grounds maintenance tasks to ensure our estate is well-kept, attractive, and safe for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Your duties will include:

  1. Irrigating seasonal plants and flower displays
  2. Maintaining borders (weeding, deadheading, edging, etc.)
  3. General nursery work and propagation
  4. Pruning, mowing, strimming, and hedge trimming
  5. Keeping the site clean, tidy, and presentable

About You

To be considered as a Gardener, you will need:

  1. Gardening experience and/or a recognised horticultural qualification
  2. Experience using machinery, mowers, or tractors
  3. A genuine interest in horticulture and grounds maintenance
  4. A positive attitude and the ability to work to a schedule
  5. A valid driving licence (essential due to our location)
