What you'll do and what we offer

We are looking for a Fynapse Delivery Manager to join our team. This role is an important role, supporting the successful coordination of planning, design and delivery of our key strategic product at Aptitude. We are looking for someone who has a strong delivery mindset, is highly action oriented and has skills in coordinating work across several teams and managing dependencies. We are looking for someone who has strong experience working in scrum as well as experience working on larger program delivery. The delivery lead role is for someone who is passionate about delivery, continuous improvement and embody the principles of ‘inspection and adaption’ into their work. They build relationships easily and understand the importance of trust when working in a fast paced environment.

Planning & Design Coordination:

  • Support the Product Managers and Engineering Managers with milestone planning of the design activities and dependencies, ensuring high quality design ceremonies & continuous planning
  • Ensure planning & design activity progresses in a timely fashion, are timeboxed and Work In Progress levels are managed well
  • Ensure planning of the roadmap is data led – supporting the engineering and product managers with understanding how their velocity relates to their high level estimates of the work, and overall delivery timelines

Sprint Mechanics:

  • Rotate between teams daily stand ups, ensuring scrum best practices are used to support the team in meeting their sprint goal, improve velocity & remove blockers quickly
  • Model, coach & enable engineering managers to run effective sprint planning, sprint refinement and retrospective ceremonies. Note – this role is not a facilitation role – the delivery manager should enable others through modelling and influencing to develop best practices
  • Use engineering operations metrics & data to influence the teams ways of working, improving things like cycle time and efficiency of code review

Delivery Transparency:

  • Ensure high level Jira accuracy is maintained – ensuring all reporting and roadmaps are accurately representing the current landscape.
  • Inspection and adaption of delivery plans – spend time inspecting teams progress, velocity, estimates & capacity plans and raise the alarm where you see delivery risks, conflicts or potential issues

Data:

  • Become an expert on the key metrics the business is measuring relating to delivery and software quality. Manage and produce reporting of these.
  • Work with Engineering Managers and Product Managers to understand the data behind the delivery performance, and enable adapted ways of working to improve

Process Management:

  • Be the champion of new processes or changes to the SDLC that exist for your product. Ensure effective update & understanding exists across the teams.

Coaching:

  • Coaching the engineering managers on best practices on sprint management and mechanics
  • Coaching the product managers on best practices on coordinating planning & design activity

What we're looking for

Experience:

  • Experience working with scrum, either as a scrum master or agile delivery lead/agile coach – has an understanding of scrum and sprint best practices.
  • Experience as a project manager, program delivery or project coordination – working with many teams and stakeholders across different regions
  • Experience working in domain driven architecture and team structures is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Have at least a high level understanding of E2E SDLC processes
  • Advanced usage of Jira

Skills & Attributes:

  • Influencing and Change Management: Have the ability to use key influencing skills, get buy in from the team to amend ways of working to ensure continuous improvement
  • Coordination & dependency management: Ability to coordinate groups of engineering and product managers across 8 teams, and support with dependency management
  • Data led: Ability to interrogate data to understand changes that need to be made to a teams way of working
  • Scrum ‘best practices’ – have knowledge on best practices of scrum and have the ability to implement them and inspire others to use them
  • Tooling support: Leaders when it comes to best practices when using Jira. Understand the importance of Jira transparency & accuracy
  • Reporting: Ability to manage reporting on key metrics for their area, maintain reports to high level of accuracy and be a leader on the teams overall delivery performance
