Frontend Developer - FinTech - Newcastle

I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading FinTech company in Newcastle that is looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where you'll have real ownership over technical products and projects from day one.

The Role:

As a Frontend Developer, you'll play a key role in building and improving user-facing applications. You'll collaborate with various business functions to ensure technical solutions align with real business needs, while also staying ahead of the latest industry trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take full ownership of technical products and projects, actively engaging with different business functions to drive innovation.
  2. Understand the true business need beyond the stated requirements and propose the best technical solutions.
  3. Challenge existing systems and processes to improve efficiency and drive excellence.
  4. Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
  5. Make an immediate impact - developers are empowered to leverage their skillsets from day one.

What They're Looking For:

  1. Strong programming and technology skills, with recent hands-on experience in React and TypeScript.
  2. Extensive experience working with Websockets, SignalR, or other real-time push technologies.
  3. Experience with containers and orchestration.
  4. A passion for UX and usability, ensuring the best possible user experience.
  5. The ability to collaborate across development teams and engage directly with users to understand their needs.
  6. An entrepreneurial mindset - someone who takes ownership, thrives on solving complex problems, and embraces innovation.
  7. A desire to understand and solve business challenges, build domain knowledge, and develop expertise in financial technology.
  8. Financial Services experience is a plus but not essential.
  9. A strong academic background, with a 2:1 or higher degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, ideally from a highly regarded university.
