Job description

Location: Finchley, North London

Work pattern: Part time, onsite 3 days a week

Duration: 2 month FTC with the opportunity for future ad-hoc contracts

Join Our Legacy: Bring History to Life!

Pentland Group has been shaping the world of sports, fashion, and outdoor brands for nearly a century. Our portfolio includes globally renowned names such as Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury of New Zealand, Endura, Mitre, Ellesse, KangaROOS, and Red or Dead.

The history of this is stored in many different physical locations across the UK. Our authentic history of products and brands is the foundation for future business. Much of this information is offline, and not easily available or accessible for our current and future people. We want to remain authentic and continue to inspire consumers. To tell brand-relevant stories and access our brands' heritage, we need to be organized and digitized, so that the stories can continue to be told, brand assets can be located, and products and samples can inspire and easily be reproduced.

WHAT'S YOUR MISSION?

We don't just create products; we build legacies. We're on a mission to preserve and digitize our remarkable history to inspire the future. We are therefore looking for a passionate Freelance/Interim Assistant Digital Archivist to support the transformation of our historic collections. This is your chance to work with an iconic company, curating and preserving a rich heritage that spans nearly 100 years. The role will focus on consolidating physical archives, largely in Finchley, North London, and preparing them for digitization to create a state-of-the-art digital archive and website.

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE DO?

As a Freelance/Interim Assistant Digital Archivist, you will:

  • Assist in organizing and digitizing our extensive brand archive, ensuring easy access for future use.
  • Support the consolidation of physical collections from various sites across London.
  • Work closely with our team to implement a modern Digital Asset Management (DAM) system.
  • Ensure the secure and efficient movement of collections, adhering to best archival practices.
  • Manage documentation, records, and metadata within a recognized Collections Management database.
  • Oversee contractors and ensure smooth handling and relocation of archived materials.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders across different brands and departments.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant archival and records management standards and regulations.
