Job Description

To deliver programs of learning in appropriate Foundation Apprenticeship subject areas to groups of students, in accordance with the national Scottish Qualification Agency (SQA) and Skills Development Scotland (SDS) by providing support, guidance and advice to service users, Council staff and local companies, as part of the wider Foundation Apprenticeship team.

Teach relevant subject material in accordance with defined requirements and quality assurance standards, being aware of current developments in the appropriate subject areas.

Assist in the enrolment of students, maintain relevant records relating to registration, the assessment schedule, record of work and student performance, and provide relevant information, in accordance with agreed Council procedures.

  • Maintain discipline within the classroom and take appropriate corrective action, where necessary, in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
  • Plan, organise and make effective use of equipment and resources, and contribute to the production and preparation of learning and assessment materials, using the most effective and appropriate techniques.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
