About the role

The core purpose of the role is to be the resident expert in formulation chemistry, working as a member of a growing, world-class R&D team at Muc-Off which has been responsible for developing race-winning lubricants and formulas used at the highest levels of performance around the globe. The formulation chemist will play a key role in the development of bicycle & motorcycle products, including innovative cleaning products, washes, polishes, and lubricants.

Key responsibilities

• Technical lead for projects involving cleaning products
• Design, test and development of new cleaning products.
• Collaborating with suppliers and contractors to ensure new products are developed in a timely and efficient manner while ensuring all parties remain engaged.
• Develop test and characterisation protocols for various protocols
• Record and maintain project records
• Manage laboratory equipment and consumables
• Collaborate with other colleagues in the R&D and contribute to the development of other Muc-Off products

What we’re looking for

• Hold a masters/PhD degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or related science field
• Has experience in development of formulated products such as cleaning products, lubricant or other similar products.
• Ability to conduct critical review of technical data and literature
• Experience with conducting chemical characterisation with techniques as FTIR, Gas chromatography
• Experience working in the laboratory environment and has good laboratory management experience (storing and handling chemicals, COSHH assessments)
• Hands-on approach in project delivery and can apply problem-solving skill to solve technical challenges
• Good communication and organisation skills.
• Proficient in IT with experience in writing technical reports
