Job Title: Football Development Coach

Department: Football Development

Location: Various locations across Burnley and Pendle

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: 35 hours per week Mon-Fri including evenings and ad-hoc weekend work

Closing Date: 20th January 2025

Salary: £20,900 - £23,000 per annum

The Role

The Football Development department provides young people between the ages of 3 and 19 with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of football and sports activities. The projects focus on increasing participation, developing a love for football, sport, and Burnley FC, whilst also creating positive learning environments for all involved. In liaison with the Head of Football Development and other staff, the Football Development Coach will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, delivering, and evaluating of coaching sessions. They will support all recruitment and strategies to develop and grow Burnley FC in the Community football development programmes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver football sessions to cover a wide range of football development projects including but not restricted to Shadow Youth Team, Player Development Centres, Soccer Schools, Activity Camps, School sessions, Matchday activations, and other football development initiatives.
  • Liaise with the Football Development Manager and proactively promote the Football/Sports Development projects with a particular focus on recruiting students for the SYT and players for football development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local schools, grassroots football clubs, and community organisations.
  • Undertake appropriate administrative duties in relation to the projects, to ensure the smooth running of the project e.g., maintain accurate attendance registers, organise sessions, fixtures, transport, and collect monies, etc.
  • Manage, develop, and support casual coaches and volunteers involved in coaching sessions.
  • Work in partnership with BFCitC and Burnley Football Club departments on community initiatives as identified by the Head of Football Development, CEO of BFCitC, and Board of Trustees.
  • Assist and support additional football/sports sessions where required.
  • Support and deliver matchday activities led by BFCitC.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety policies and procedures are implemented in all areas of the projects.
  • Help monitor and evaluate the projects and have an input into the future design of project delivery.
  • Identify talented individuals involved in the projects and refer those individuals to appropriate destinations.
  • Understand and implement the Charity’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role. Use this understanding to ensure safe working practices, appropriate reporting of concerns, and contribute positively to a safe environment.
  • Be able to work flexible hours where the role of the job requires.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • FA Level 2 in Coaching Football or UEFA C
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
  • FA First Aid
  • FA Safeguarding
  • Experience of planning and delivering regular football coaching sessions.
  • Experience of working within a high-pressured, results-driven environment.
  • Full clean driving license with access to own transport.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
