BAM FM is recruiting a Janitor at East Renfrewshire Schools. You will be based at one school, but contracted to be based at multiple sites through East Renfrewshire to cover janitorial holidays and sickness as required.
This role is a 52 week a year position, 43 hours per week. Shift patterns 40 hours Mon - Fri 07:00 – 16:00, 08:00 – 17:00, 13:00 – 22:00 and one Saturday in three 08:00 – 17:00. You will also be expected to participate in the Sunday overtime rota from 12:00 – 17:00 to administer lets and occasional overtime during the week.
Under the instruction/guidance of the head janitor, you will provide porterage, maintenance, waste management & security services on school sites & premises.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Maintenance
Systems Training/Familiarisation
Water Hygiene, Fire alarms, CCTV, Sprinklers, Disabled Refuge, Access Control, Internal lighting, External lighting, RCD trip testing, Emergency lighting, Portable scaffolding, Flooring, Others as required.
Corporate Training
Moving and handling, Emergency first aid, Code of conduct, Modern slavery, GDPR, Legionella Awareness, IOSH – Working Safely, Others when required.
• Janitorial/site-keeping or trade experience in a similar environment.
• Good numeracy/literacy/GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
• Have a good working knowledge of IT and a Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources.
• Working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice/legislation.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Ability to relate well to children and adults.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions.
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
• Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities.
• Demonstrate a flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
• Show the ability to assist other team members in the discharge of their duties.
• This role is subject to a satisfactory passing of PVG Certification.
