Flt Operative

Do you have a valid Counterbalance Licence? Do you have prior experience within a Quarry environment? Are you staying in or around Shepton Mallet at Somerset?

Role: Forklift Operative / Yard Operative

Location: Holcim UK Ltd, Torr Quarry, Shepton Mallet, Somerset, BA4 4SQ

Rate: £13.56 per hour

Overtime: x1.5 (Monday - Saturday), Double pay on Sundays

Contract Length: Initially 6 months (possibility of extension)

Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (Paid Lunch), 42.5 hours in a week

Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

1. Operate a loading shovel and forklift (license required; clamp training available) for safe material transport, stacking, and loading/unloading lorries.
2. Conduct pre-use checks, routine maintenance, and ensure safe handling to prevent damage.
3. Work outdoors in a physically demanding environment, lifting up to 25kg, shoveling concrete, and performing yard duties.
4. Maintain a clean and organized site by sweeping, removing debris, and assisting with overall site maintenance.

Essential Criteria:

1. Counterbalance Forklift License.
2. Driving licence and access to a car.
3. Experience with Forklift Clamp (preferable).
4. Previous experience within a Quarry environment.
5. Willingness to perform manual labour, including lifting, stacking, and banding.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation.
8. Ability to work independently and within a team.
