Essential Job Summary:

The Fleet Technology Technician will provide the first line of support of all onboard truck technology and related hardware. Assist with all problems via phone, email, remote support, site visits, or along the driver’s route. They are responsible for the safe and productive operation of the fleet assets through the efficient performance of the department’s daily activities.

Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Install the Routeware tablet, and interface all components with the systems on the vehicles, including the in-cab video cameras, Samsara Cameras, and radios.
  • Maintain a high degree of customer service for all support inquiries and adhere to all service management principles.
  • Take ownership of user problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues.
  • Skill to disassemble vehicle interiors without damaging the vehicle or the interior components or where to locate information if disassembly procedure is unknown or not evident.
  • Identify component failures quickly, and replace as necessary.
  • Properly choosing and running wires, cables, and harness assemblies throughout the vehicle with competency in executing safe and serviceable methods.
  • Knowledge of various commercially available installation accessories such as wiring harnesses, high current power/ground wiring, circuit protection devices, etc.
  • General knowledge and familiarity of the appropriate application of various fasteners for equipment mounting.
  • Install Bluetooth hands-free cellular devices or modules, or wireless audio streaming devices or modules with driver safety as a priority.
  • Approach all encounters with employees, customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Always maintain appropriate confidentiality of all verbal and/or documented information.
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Fluency in English, Spanish is a plus.
  • Applicants must pass drug test.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is strongly preferred.
  • Travel in company vehicle to all locations in New Jersey, New York State, New York City, Pennsylvania, and Ohio as needed. Overnight stay(s) could be required (Rare).
  • Three years (3) professional experience is preferred.
  • Training at an installation related school or program is a plus.
  • Should have a strong knowledge of PC’s, USB peripherals, Bluetooth, Serial (RS-232), Cellular Data, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often.
