Fleet Manager Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Coach Dispatch team to company and department goals.
- Talk to drivers daily/check in’s.
- Walk the drivers through any issues they may have:
- Breakdowns
- Accidents
- Customer issues
- Develop efficient driver schedules to maximize profits:
- Ensure all drivers make our quarterly goal.
- Ensure Dead Head is at the company goal standards.
- Book second loads daily for drivers.
- Input accurate load information sent to Billing:
- Ensure on Friday that all loads are ready to be sent to billing.
- Ensure payroll gets all necessary reports:
- Driver assistance pay
- Driver breakdown pay
- Manage drivers to adhere to strict schedules:
- Manage driver PC time.
- Ensure on-time deliveries.
- Review Hours of service periodically throughout the week to ensure drivers have the time to deliver loads.
- Find ways to cut costs and maximize profits:
- Work with Operations Manager to analyze profits and work on cutting costs.
- Develop strategies for greater fuel efficiency.
- Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
- Comply with U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations:
- Ensure drivers are adhering to DOT driver log policies.
- Monitor driver behavior and ensure a high level of customer service:
- Provide drivers with positive reinforcement.
- Find ways to encourage drivers to perform well.
- Conduct progressive discipline for drivers breaking company policies.
- Analyze data to increase business operational efficiency.
- Utilize GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles for safety purposes.
- Complete driver reimbursements.
- Complete reports on duties completed as a Fleet Manager.
- Maintain communication with customers daily:
- Utilize PGTs network.
