ABOUT YOU

As Flammability Laboratory Technician, you will have a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards in a fast-paced environment. The role also involves participation in quality and health and safety training as well as contributing to internal and external quality proficiency schemes.

Required skills and experience:

  • Good general standard of education in Science, English and Math is essential in the role.
  • Good IT literacy skills (MS Word, Excel)
  • Attention to detail and ability to problem solve on the job.
  • Experience in a similar working environment within a UKAS accredited laboratory with PPE products (beneficial, but not essential)
  • Experience within the textile sector, whether this be testing or production.
  • To understand the principals of a variety of PPE test procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of test methods & specifications for consumer products and the ability to understand technical instruction, documents, and standards.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment against KPI's.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will be part of a team and be required to support and work flexibly between departments. You will ensure that you follow the correct methodologies and maintain a high level of quality. Routine work demands a high level of attention to detail, as well as the ability to work accurately and quickly to controlled methods.

Key activities:

  • Ensure that work carried out complies with both customer requirements and company procedures.
  • Ensure that work performed complies with accreditation requirements, and that work carried out is accurate.
  • Accurate data entry, good organisation, ability to take on technical information and good manual dexterity.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper handling of hazardous materials, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, and participating in safety training.
  • Support Customer Service team in providing first class service to clients.
  • Provide feedback to the senior technicians/line manager regarding resource requirements, client issues etc.
  • To provide general advice to clients and co-workers.
  • To communicate to clients and co-workers in a clear, concise, and unambiguous way, adopting a professional tone and style.
  • To carry out other duties consistent with fulfilling the job function and ability to flex between departments as requested by the team leader.
  • Effective day to day management of samples within the testing department. This will include tasks such as booking in samples, recording temperature checks/ instrument checks etc.
  • Ensure work is tested within target turnaround times.
  • Good and efficient housekeeping.
  • Required to liaise with others inside/outside the department in a proactive and reactive manner to provide or obtain information to keep people informed so that work is completed effectively.
  • The job holder will also build relationships and contacts to facilitate future exchange of information.
  • Capability to work unsupervised and within a team environment, supported by Line management and the Senior technicians.
