Job summaryAre you a skilled and proactive governance professional looking for a varied and exciting leadership role?Surrey Heartlands ICB has a high performing Governance Team which is committed to excellence and continuing learning in corporate and system governance.Due to upcoming maternity leave of the team leader, we are looking to appoint maternity cover for a period of 14-15 months from mid-November 2024 (to allow for handover) until end of January 2026 (dates may be subject to negotiation).The team has three operating priorities:Servicing the ICB Board and Committees to the highest possible standard. Includes alignment of the ICB Board within wider system governance and ensuring coherent assurance/ and risk flows between the ICB and committees.
- System working: Servicing system forums and/or other projects which enable system dialogue on assurance, governance and/or risk.
- ICB corporate governance: Managing key processes e.g. risk management; conflicts of interest; ICB policy framework.
- Responsible for maintaining key documents including the ICB Constitution and Governance Handbook.
Our offer also includes a focus on supporting and developing governance and risk competence and effectiveness across the ICB.The post-holder will ensure high quality outputs for committee work, risk management and other governance processes. The role also works closely with the Head of Corporate Affairs and the Governance Team on governance projects across the three priorities above.

Main duties of the jobYou will:

- Be able to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Be able to respond to sudden demands and demonstrate sound judgement in the absence of clear guidelines or precedent, seeking advice as necessary.
- Be able to suggest new solutions to ensure team and organisational processes are efficient and effective. This may include providing constructive challenge where appropriate, often to very senior members of the organisation.
- Be flexible and practical and committed to team working - the Governance Team works in a positive and supportive way that focuses on getting the job done to the highest possible quality.
- Have a good digital skill set, with the ability to use existing office technologies and to learn new ones, ideally with an interest in using technology to streamline processes.
