Primary Objectives for the Fitness Instructor

1. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of everybody using the health and fitness facilities.
2. To promote excellence of customer service and motivate people to enjoy exercise through good communications and selling skills.
3. To take responsibility for all aspects of the daily operation of the health and fitness facilities.
4. To drive the Expressions brand and specifically to adhere to all operational and sales procedures.

Daily Tasks

1. To work on a shift rota system to undertake the daily operations of the facilities.
2. To undertake Inductions, Fitness Assessments and Personal Programmes in accordance with the brand.
3. To be aware of all Health and Safety issues within the Centre, and specifically the fitness and health facility, and to constantly implement and assess procedures, drawing attention to unsafe practices.
4. To guide, care for and assist all fitness users especially in areas of motivation, well-being, nutrition, and fitness testing.
5. To work as part of a team to achieve income and sales targets for the fitness and health facility.
6. To take responsibility for ensuring the health and fitness facilities are clean, tidy and well presented at all times.
7. To undertake maintenance work as required.
8. To make sure all equipment and facilities are safe and secure when not in use.
9. To undertake any reasonable request to assist with the daily operations of the Centre.

The Candidate

Qualifications

As the successful candidate you must be flexible, reliable, and enjoy working as part of a team. You will ideally possess the REPS level 2 or equivalent qualification and be willing to work variable hours, including some evenings and weekends.

4. Must be able to meet the demands of the role by working additional hours when required.
5. Must be able to demonstrate clear identification with all customer requirements.
6. Must be able to maintain and be committed to good employee relations and deliver quality training.
7. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential.

DBS

The position of Fitness Instructor is classed as a regulated post and therefore requires a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the post holder to be submitted for a DBS check.
