Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Fitness / Dance Tutor to join the team on a claims basis at our Adult Education Centre in Lymington. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £22.13 - £23.26 per hour depending on experience.

We are part of a high-achieving college based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

About the role:

As the Fitness / Dance Tutor, you will teach adult students fitness/dance classes on a Wednesday morning as agreed with the Area Organiser at the Lymington Centre. You will work closely with the Area Organisers, particularly with regards to the recruitment, monitoring and progression of students.

Responsibilities as our Fitness / Dance Tutor will include:

  • Marking registers and providing schemes of work.
  • Contributing to the design, delivery and future planning and development of the curriculum.
  • Contributing to the teaching/learning resource bank for the relevant subject/course.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of developments in the relevant subject/course.
  • Attending relevant Enrolment/Open Events as appropriate, in consultation with the Area Organisers and undertake such duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time.
  • Promoting the sharing of good practice in the development of teaching methods and strategies.
  • Participating in the College’s Lesson Observation Scheme.
  • Participating in staff development and training.

As our Fitness / Dance Tutor, you’ll ideally have:

  • Professional qualification in relevant subject area.
  • Appropriate teacher training qualification OR working towards this which can be done whilst teaching the course.
  • Successful track record of teaching adults or a desire to teach and obtain the relevant qualification.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current developments in the relevant curriculum area.
  • Knowledge of appropriate methods of involving adult students in feedback on their courses.
  • Empathy with and strong commitment to meeting the needs of individual students.
