Role: Fire & Security Engineer
Location: London and Surrounding Area (Mobile role, so frequent travel will be required)
Salary: £55,000 - £60,000 OTE
Hours: Basic 40 hours per week, uncapped overtime with enhanced rate for working outside contracted hours.

Mainstay Recruitment are seeking Fire and Security Systems, Installation and Commissioning Engineers to carry out installation and commissioning works across all aspects of fire and security systems. This role involves working on a wide range of systems including fire alarms, CCTV, access control and intruder alarms. The role does require some works to be undertaken out of normal working hours on sites across the country. This may involve overnight accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Understanding a detailed drawing and specification to identify and implement plan of works
2. First and second fix of equipment and materials into commercial and industrial premises
3. Installation and commissioning for fire alarm and security systems equipment
4. Document completed work, including materials used, locations and compliance requirements
5. Identifying any areas that are non-compliant
6. Work closely with contractors, other engineers, site supervisors and project managers to deliver the proposed installation and commissioning works within the proposed time frame
7. Having a thorough understanding of British Standards as well as knowledge of various equipment and systems
8. Reporting any variations from the original brief back to the Project/Contracts Manager

Candidate Requirements

1. Good communicator with verbal and IT skills
2. Understanding of BS(Apply online only) Part 1, BS7671, BS8243:2021
3. Prior experience in the fire and security industry
4. Proficiency with reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
5. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under minimal supervision
6. Health and safety knowledge
7. Excellent organisational and time management skills
8. Recent FIA accreditation and courses
9. DBS certification (essential and will be undertaken as part of the vetting process)
10. BS7858 vetting to be started
11. Beneficial certifications: ECS, IPAF, or similar qualifications
12. Industry-based system and equipment training beneficial
13. Candidates must be flexible on work days & nights, with occasional working away from home (expenses covered)

Package

All Engineers are paid an hourly rate. Enhanced rates are as follows:

1. 40 contracted hours weekly
2. Any work carried out after 7pm = Time + 1/3
3. Nights = Time + 1/3
4. Saturdays = Time + ½
5. Sundays + Bank Holidays = Double time
6. £25 per night allowance for working away
7. All overnight stays in premier inns
8. 30-minute travel allowance
9. Van + Fuel card provided
10. 30 days holiday (including bank holidays)
11. Engineers with this business regularly earn £55,000 - £60,000 per annum with all the overtime, nights etc. Overtime is not compulsory but does help boost earnings.
