Job description

MMP Consultancy is seeking a Fire Safety Manager on behalf of a Local Authority based in Somerset. This is a temporary position initially for 3 months, subject to possible extension. The day rate is £450pd inside of IR35 via an umbrella company.

The successful candidate will manage a team of Fire Safety Officers and will be responsible for the safety of residents in multi-occupied residential buildings, including high-rise and supported housing for older people. They will be at the forefront of ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and driving forward the Council's fire safety strategies and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage fire safety projects, ensuring alignment with Council policies.
  2. Ensure compliance with statutory and non-statutory fire safety responsibilities.
  3. Provide expert advice on fire-related matters to stakeholders.
  4. Manage contracts related to fire risk assessments and remedial actions.
  5. Engage with residents to address fire safety concerns and develop evacuation strategies for vulnerable individuals.
  6. Conduct audits, inspections, and investigations to assess fire safety compliance.
  7. Respond to fire prohibition and enforcement notices effectively.

Requirements:
  1. Significant experience in fire safety management within a social housing setting.
  2. Relevant fire safety qualifications (minimum Level 4) and professional membership to IFE and/or IFSM (or equivalent).
  3. In-depth knowledge of fire safety regulations, British Standards, and complex building fire safety systems.
  4. Strong leadership skills to manage teams and projects effectively.
  5. Ability to develop strategies and policies that enhance fire safety compliance.
  6. Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  7. Experience in contract management related to fire safety services.
