Main duties of the job

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Fire Safety Advisor to join our dedicated team at NTW Solutions Ltd. In this vital role, you will play a key part in ensuring fire safety compliance within our Sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on fire safety issues, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and legislation.
  • Implement fire safety precautions using a risk-managed approach.
  • Adhere to NHS monitoring and reporting mechanisms relevant to fire safety management.

Person specification

Skills and Experience

  • Have a thorough knowledge of fire safety, fire risk assessments, fire legislation, fire regulations and NHS fire standards and regulations, and codes of practice.
  • The ability to organise others and administer fire safety training.
  • Understand the risk assessment process and have the ability to undertake fire safety audits.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Good IT skills and experience of standard Microsoft Office applications and the operation and use of CAD (computer aided design) software and systems.
  • Be able to handle and demonstrate the use of firefighting equipment.
  • Able to navigate around a site to undertake risk assessments including accessing confined spaces such as ducts and loft spaces.
  • Able to concentrate on complex tasks and switch between tasks while maintaining concentration and standards.
  • To be able to work flexibly, meeting the demands of various staff groups, this includes training shift workers out of hours.
  • A good understanding of fire modelling techniques and working knowledge of risk management techniques.

Education and Qualifications

  • A Fire Engineering/Fire Safety Management formal qualification to degree level or Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety or significant demonstrable relevant fire safety experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post as travel between sites will be required on a regular basis.
  • Membership of professional organisation ie Institute of Fire Engineers (MIFireE) or Confederation of Fire Protection Association of Europe (CFPA).

Experience

  • Experience in Health and Safety, with a focus on Fire Safety.
  • Experience of Healthcare Fire Safety.

All jobs will be appointed on the NTW Solutions Limited terms and conditions and not NHS Agenda for Change terms and conditions. New starters who are not in the NHS Pension already will be enrolled into a NEST pension.

Various posts are subject to DBS clearance prior to commencement.
