Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Central Engineering, Transport System Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering teams and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to conduct fire risk assessments across the TfL network, covering both surface and sub-surface locations. You’ll assess fire risks in a range of complex environments, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation while helping to protect passengers, staff, and infrastructure. You will also provide fire safety advice and guidance to duty holders, managers, and key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with fire regulations and the safe operation of TfL assets.
As a Band 3 Fire Risk Assessor, you will ideally have the expertise to undertake detailed fire risk assessments in line with the Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council (FRACC) competency criteria and hold third-party accreditation for Fire Risk Assessments.
To be successful in this role you should ideally have proven experience conducting fire risk assessments in complex, high-footfall environments. You should have a strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, standards, and guidance relevant to the TfL estate, including The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, The Fire Precautions (Sub-surface Railway Stations) (England) Regulations 2009, BS999:2017, Approved Document B (Fire Safety) Volume 2, and PAS 79-1:2020. You will need excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of stakeholders. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, carrying out fire risk assessments at various TfL locations, which may include working outside of normal office hours.
The more teams you’ve been part of, the better. But it’s important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That’s because, wherever you join us, you’ll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise. So come and bring on tomorrow, as an Engineer at TfL.
