Job description

Fire and Building Safety Advisor

Sellick Partnership is currently assisting in the recruitment of a Fire and Building Safety Advisor to join a local and reputable social housing organisation based in Sunderland on a permanent basis.

Duties of the Fire and Building Safety Advisor:

  1. Carry out fire risk assessments across the organisation's property portfolio in alignment with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and complete associated reports.
  2. Quality review fire risk assessments completed by colleagues in accordance with the BAFE SP205 certification system.
  3. Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain a digital twin, safety case, and safety case report for each relevant property.
  4. Support the Fire and Building Safety Manager and Head of Fire and Building Safety to submit a Building Assessment Certificate application for each relevant property to the Building Safety Regulator when required.
  5. Support the investigation of any major incidents in relevant properties that need to be reported to the Building Safety Regulator as a defined Mandatory Occurrence.

Requirements of the Fire and Building Safety Advisor:

  1. Possess a UK driver's license.
  2. Demonstrable experience completing fire risk assessments, particularly in the housing or property management sector, and undertaking fire risk assessments in high-rise residential buildings.
  3. Level 4 (minimum) certificate in a fire or building safety related discipline.
  4. Membership of a relevant professional body, such as the Institute of Fire Engineers, at a minimum of Member level.
  5. Knowledge of relevant fire and building safety legislation and guidelines.
