Fire Alarm Engineer

Job Description

Fortus Recruitment are a recruitment company that specialise in placing people within the repairs & maintenance industry. We are currently working on behalf of a Local Authority. My Client is currently looking for a Fire Alarm Engineer for a Permanent position to carry out work in domestic properties covering Bristol and surrounding areas. The Fire Maintenance Engineer will deliver work across London and the Home Counties. The purpose of this role is to provide maintenance and servicing of life safety equipment, emergency light and smoke vent systems, in accordance with all current British & European standards, specifically BS5839 standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide day to day planned and reactive maintenance of contracts.
2. Servicing and maintenance of emergency lighting systems.
3. Respond to emergency call-outs and carry out any remedial works as required.
4. Carry out asset verification.
5. Install replacement/additional equipment.
6. Take part in the on-call rota.
7. Conduct site surveys as required.
8. Support the development of apprentices.
9. Always act in a professional and diligent manner, considering the needs of the clients.

Required Skills and Experience:

1. Previous Fire Maintenance experience.
2. Good understanding of the British Standards BS 5839 and BS 5266.
3. FIA units (1,3,5).
4. Driving Licence.

Working Environment:

This is an operational site-based position and involves collaborating closely with the support service team while also engaging with our clients. Expect a dynamic and fast-paced work setting that combines on-site work with ongoing communication with office-based colleagues. The role requires proactive interaction and liaison with clients/customers to ensure effective communication and first-class customer service.

1. Basic Salary £34 - £38k with opportunity for overtime and standby, leading to a realistic OTE of £50,000- £65,000.
