At Abstract, we are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Finishing Superintendent to join our team.

As a Finishing Superintendent, working closely with the General Site Superintendent and the field staff at the site, and reporting to the Field Operations Manager, you are known for your meticulous attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality products. You have traversed numerous miles of floor space in wood frame multifamily development projects, including condominiums and townhomes. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the timely completion of projects while maintaining high-quality standards and adhering to safety regulations.

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including residential wood framing, concrete form work, finishing, and general carpentry. You will lead and manage a team of construction workers, providing guidance and supervision to ensure an efficient and effective workflow.

To excel in this role, you will have proven experience as a detailed-oriented, high quality minded finishing superintendent or a similar position. You should also possess in-depth knowledge of construction methods, techniques, and materials. Strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.

You

  • Have a clear understanding of the unique requirements for construction projects in the Greater Victoria area.

Daily

  • Offer guidance and oversight to safety professionals and all site personnel.
  • Ensure that all established site procedures are properly upheld.
  • Oversee and coordinate the work of interior finishing subcontractors.
  • Maintain scheduling objectives on a floor-by-floor basis.
  • Assess drawings and submissions for adherence to project specifications through direct examination and collaboration with the project team’s expertise.
  • Perform regular follow-up inspections to confirm that work aligns with contract documents and approved submissions.
  • Halt work if necessary to address issues that impact safety, quality, or disrupt the logical progression of work.
  • Document and complete daily job logs.
  • Ensure compliance with the project’s Health & Safety Plan on site.
  • Supervise site operations for quality compliance and ensure that quality concerns are addressed according to established project procedures.
  • Provide leadership and general guidance as needed.

Weekly

  • Participate and attend weekly look-ahead schedules.
  • Participate in Project Team meetings.

Monthly

  • Ensure all required monthly reporting is complete and submitted.

What you have

  • Minimum of 3+ years multi-family residential wood frame construction experience in a supervisory capacity, ideally as a site superintendent on multi-family, wood framed condos and townhomes.
  • Competent using the following computer programs or the aptitude to learn them: MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Procore, Bluebeam, other programs as reasonably required.
