Job description

Our public sector are looking for a Financial Services Team Leader to join them on a temporary basis.


Location: Coalville (Hybrid working)


Pay Rate: £19.39ph - £20.22ph


You will be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and income management teams as well as the finance assistant who is responsible for insurance on a day-to-day basis.


As well as the day-to-day management, you will also assist with improvements to the Unit 4 system and making processes more efficient.


Core Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a high standard of customer service throughout the Financial Services team.
  2. Act as a main point of contact for the Council in relation to Financial Services functions.
  3. Act as the authority's lead for employer-related tax and VAT.
  4. Act as one of the Council's authorised bank signatories.
  5. Administration of the Council's bank account and Corporate Credit Card and associated online systems.
  6. Support the Systems Accountant with the administration and development of the finance systems.

  7. Carry out duties efficiently and effectively.
  8. Ensure high standards of health and safety practice are maintained in accordance with council policy, including the health and safety and welfare at work of themselves, staff under their supervision (including casual and agency workers), and colleagues.
  9. Promote the Council's Equality and Diversity Policy to ensure service provision and employment practices are non-discriminatory.
  10. Participate in the Council's appraisal scheme and undertake any necessary training and development as identified for the job role.
  11. Undertake any other reasonable tasks appropriate to the grading of the post and as required by the line manager.
  12. Assist in the event of a civil emergency in any way as instructed.

Experience Required:

  1. Experience of effectively managing a team.
  2. Experience in Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable systems and processes.
  3. Knowledge of VAT and insurance.
  4. Ability to process and analyse data and information accurately and within specific time frames.
  5. Ability to interpret and apply legislation and professional guidance.
  6. Good level of experience in the use of Excel (including use of formulas, pivot tables, and lookups; minimum Intermediate or Advanced Excel), Word, and integrated financial systems.
