Financial Services Divisional Manager (Deputy s151 Officer) | Salary: Up to £73,276 + relocation package

As the Financial Services Divisional Manager and Deputy s151 Officer, you will be at the heart of shaping our financial strategy, ensuring alignment with the Council’s ambitious vision within a financially stable and well-managed environment. With a robust finance team and a management structure that has seen long-term leadership, you will have the opportunity to take on a more strategic role, driving both finance and corporate initiatives. A key focus of your role will be supporting the Council’s financial planning for the regeneration of Chichester, ensuring that our efforts are underpinned by sound financial strategies and targeted investments. Your work will be crucial in breathing new life into the high street and attracting vibrant businesses to our community.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Director for Corporate Services, you will analyse financial developments, review best practices from across the sector, and provide expert technical advice to members on viability and funding strategies. Your role will be crucial in navigating upcoming challenges from future spending reviews and maintaining strong governance and compliance standards. You will also work closely with political members, both new and seasoned, helping them navigate the dynamics of local authority practices, understand the potential risks, and encouraging a respectful and supportive environment for everyone. With a collaborative culture and opportunities for professional growth, this position offers the chance to make a significant impact in an evolving council.

About you

To excel in this role, you should have a strong leadership background with experience in managing teams through change and delivering results. You’ll need to be resilient, capable of making tough decisions with integrity, and skilled in providing clear, strategic financial advice. Proactivity is key, as you’ll work closely with divisional managers, taking the lead on significant finance and corporate initiatives.
