Financial Modelling Director - Energy, Infrastructure & Environment (4601)

Forvis Mazars is looking for an individual to join its global Energy, Infrastructure & Environment practice, based in London. The role is a senior one which would involve high levels of collaboration across Forvis Mazars (both within the UK and internationally). For the right person this is an exciting opportunity to progress to a Partner role in the future.

Our Forvis Mazars Energy, Infrastructure & Environment practice is trusted by the world's leading investors and developers in the sector to deliver deal advisory, valuations, financial modelling, due diligence, risk consulting, tax and asset management services.

Within this practice, the Infrastructure Finance business unit provides modelling, model audit, valuations and advisory services to clients around the world with regional hubs in London, Paris, New York, Toronto, Sydney, Johannesburg, Delhi and Pune.

In relation to financial modelling specifically, Forvis Mazars has developed a strong reputation over the past 10-15 years across subsectors with a particular recent specialism built up around large operational portfolio models in the energy transition space.

Your Experience

  • A financial modelling or financial advisory role in another firm.
  • An investment or asset management role for a financial investor such as an infrastructure fund or a commercial lender.
  • An investment or asset management role for a strategic investor in the energy and infrastructure sector.

The right person will be a genuine leader of the team with deep areas of sector knowledge and a vision around how to continue to grow our offering as part of a wider suite of services which includes deal advisory and valuation. You will have the ability to persuade clients of this offering and to establish deep long-term relationships both internally and externally.

The following are the specific areas envisaged as likely to be central to the role:

Professional responsibilities

  • Business development and strategy; Develop and deliver a strategy in the sector working closely with other areas of Forvis Mazars - building on existing relationships and experience.
  • Active energy and infrastructure sector point of contact within Forvis Mazars UK.
  • Client development: broaden client relationships to help drive repeat business as well as opportunities across the firm.

Engagement leadership

  • Run modelling-related engagements and be a key senior day-to-day point of contact for clients.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients.
  • Ongoing guidance to team members.

Team leadership

  • A key aspect of the role will be to guide and develop the team.
  • Includes coaching and people manager responsibilities, take responsibility for people's career development.

Key requirements for the role

  • The right person is likely to have significant experience in the sector but this may have come from a variety of contexts and the candidate does not need to come from a dedicated modelling role.
  • Technically strong, traditional knowledge of Excel, broader data analytics, visualisation and automation and/or sector and commercial knowledge.
  • A deep understanding of what clients look for and need in financial models and modelling related services; how models are used and applied in practice.
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt to an everchanging technology landscape.
  • Develop and supervise team members.
  • Multiple engagement management, a track record of building enduring client relationships and people management skills.
