Job description

Join us as Financial Crime Assurance Manager at Barclays, where you will be responsible for designing and managing the assurance framework across Financial Crime Retail, including completion of Quality Assurance of customer review approvals and other assurance testing, utilising different assurance methods including data driven solutions.

Key skills required to be successful in this role include:

• Demonstrable experience of working in Assurance roles, including the design, testing and quality assurance processes.
• Ability to provide thought leadership - strong analytical skills with ability to interpret data, MI and business challenges and make recommendations and decisions.
• Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and problem-solving skills including experience in producing and reviewing papers / MI; and presentations for senior audiences.

Additional skills include:

• Previous experience of working in a Financial Crime environment, ideally in a PEP, High Risk or Exits, working knowledge of Financial Crime Customer Life Cycle Standards.
• Experience in the financial services industry.
• Experience of interpreting compliance and operational procedures and processes, translating into operational processes and controls.

This role can be based in London, Northampton or Glasgow.

Purpose of the role

To support the Risk Function in delivering its objective of safeguarding the bank's financial and operational stability by proactively identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across various business units and activities.

Accountabilities

• Development of strategic direction for risk, including the implementation of up-to-date methodologies and processes.
• Management of the risk department, including oversight of risk colleagues and their performance, implementation of risk priorities and objectives, oversight of department efficiency and effectiveness.
• Relationship management of risk stakeholders, including identifying relevant stakeholders, and maintenance of the quality of external third-party services.
• Adherence to the Risk policy, standards and frameworks, and maintaining a robust control environment.

• Consult on complex issues; providing advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
• Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
• Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
• Perform work that is closely related to that of other areas, which requires understanding of how areas coordinate and contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the organisation sub-function.
• Collaborate with other areas of work, for business aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
