Job description

Financial Controller - £45K - Flexible 34 hours working week. We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to take on all aspects of financial management for an established manufacturing company. The role requires someone with advanced Excel skills and knowledge of Sage accounting software.

Financial Controller Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare monthly management accounts pack for three UK group companies.
  2. Line management of Accounts Administrator, overseeing both sales and purchase ledger activity including supplier payment runs.
  3. Regular financial reporting (KPIs, business analytics, cashflow) working closely with the senior management team to set deadlines.
  4. Bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc reporting.
  5. Quarterly VAT return submissions.
  6. Annual budget preparation, financial forecasting and planning.
  7. Effective cashflow management and reporting.
  8. Establish accounting controls, systems and processes.
  9. Assisting with stock control, customs queries and collaborating with other departments to improve processes across the business.
  10. Examine financial reports to ensure accurate financial records.
  11. Production of annual audit and statutory accounts for filing at Companies House in collaboration with external accountants.
  12. Preparation of R&D tax claims.
  13. Main point of contact for all banking and compliance with accounting regulations.
  14. Work with management team to identify and target efficiencies.
Requirements:
  1. Fully qualified accountant - ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
  2. 5 years' experience in financial operations, whether as a finance officer, controller or other relevant roles.
  3. Excellent knowledge of core accounting processes, data analysis and forecasting methods.
  4. Good communication and presentation skills.
  5. Strong organisation skills, attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
  6. Advanced Excel knowledge.
  7. Ideally experience of a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  8. Experienced use of Sage.
