The Smith Family is a national children's education charity that works with children and young people experiencing poverty to overcome their circumstances and reach their full potential by providing holistic, long-term support for their education.

About the role

We are seeking an Interim Financial Controller to lead the financial capability of the organisation, manage the financial accounting team and day to day operations of the Finance department. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working alongside dedicated, energised, and passionate team members, you will:

  • Develop and maintain financial systems that meet the organisation's legal and company requirements
  • Collect, analyse and provide accurate and timely financial and management reports and forecasts
  • Review monthly investment portfolio (projects/initiative) reporting
  • Provide on-going analysis of impact on budget for any significant variances
  • Lead, manage and participate in functional and cross functional projects
  • Review capital expenditure and maintenance needs at key properties
  • Review key contracts
  • Lead system and process development opportunities

About you

As well as passion for community, you will bring the following:

  • Qualified CPA or Chartered Accountant
  • Big 4 accounting firm experience, at Manager level highly considered
  • Considerable practical experience in financial planning, reporting and control
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Corporate governance and board reporting experience
  • Strategic thinking, analytical and reporting skills
