Job description

Based near Sudbury, this is an established business looking for an experienced Finance Manager/Controller to join the team.

Working closely with the Finance Director and Managing Director, you will manage and mentor the finance team to provide management information and business intelligence that will drive commercial business performance.

With business growth and planned development, this role needs you to be a progressive candidate with the desire to move into the Financial Director role in 2-3 years. This is a key role within the finance team and requires excellent communication skills with the ability to develop key stakeholder relationships to drive the business forward.

Working closely with the Operations Director and Sales Director, you will provide insights, data, and guidance. Your wider role will also include:

  1. Leadership of the finance team; developing skills, capability, performance, and succession planning.
  2. Provide visibility of the finance annual plan to the Finance Director, the Board, and the leadership team.
  3. Prepare and review business intelligence reports for all Group Companies to enable appropriate business decisions.
  4. Prepare and review year-end tax packs and all supporting financial information required to execute the annual audit.
  5. Review financial performance information and plans - including the annual budget, bi-annual costing and pricing exercises, and monthly business information & forecasts.
  6. Provide strong financial review together with effective support for business development initiatives and supporting business cases.
  7. Manage the financial activities of the Company - ensuring good local cost control and cost management behavior in the business.

You should be looking to progress into the Financial Director role within a 2-3 year timescale, with the current Financial Director moving to a part-time Group CFO position at that time. This growth planning means a key part of this role will involve mentoring the Management Accountant to finish their qualification and work towards moving into this role.

The nature of the business means that everyone works collaboratively together on site daily, but there is clear flexibility around external commitments.

The salary range is £65-70K. There are 22 days holiday, a Pension Scheme, and a Profit Share scheme alongside on-site parking.
