Job Description

Location: Floor, 3 & 4 Viewpoint Office Village, Babbage Road

At London Paramount Care Ltd, we are a care organisation committed to delivering person-centred support for children and adults with complex learning disabilities. We are currently seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our finance team. As a Financial Controller, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our financial processes. Your expertise will help us maintain financial stability while continuing to provide tailored, high-quality care.

About The Role

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing a range of critical financial functions within the company. This includes managing payroll, handling the purchase ledger, ensuring accurate bank reconciliations, assisting with audits, and supporting internal financial controls. The Financial Controller will work closely with the senior finance team to ensure all financial operations are precise and in compliance with standards. This is a hands-on role that demands a keen eye for detail and a proactive, organised approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly payroll process from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all payroll-related tasks.
  • Maintain and update the purchase ledger, process supplier invoices, and manage weekly payment runs, ensuring suppliers are paid promptly and correctly.
  • Conduct weekly bank reconciliations, ensuring Xero records are up-to-date, and handle inter-company balances with precision.
  • Oversee staff expenses, petty cash, and Soldo accounts, ensuring these are recorded and reconciled in line with company policies.
  • Produce detailed payroll and credit control reports, with insights and commentary, for review by the Finance Manager and Finance Director.
  • Manage the finance and payroll inboxes, responding promptly and professionally to internal and external queries.
  • Assist in preparing for annual audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial accuracy.
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure seamless financial processes across the business, and provide ad-hoc financial support as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree in Finance, Business, or an AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a finance or accounting role, with strong exposure to payroll, ledgers, and reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems, particularly Xero, is highly advantageous.
  • A good understanding of UK GAAP and/or IFRS is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external partners.
  • A detail-oriented approach with the ability to solve problems and provide financial insight.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, with a focus on continuous improvement within the finance function.
  • Experience within the care sector is an advantage but not a necessity.
