Job Title: Financial Controller / Finance Manager

Location: Halton Borough, Runcorn

Work Arrangement: Site Based; on-site presence required for 3 days per week.

Remuneration: £50,000 - £60,000 pro rata over a 3-day working week.

Financial Controller

We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller / Finance Manager for a new permanent position which will be for 3 days per week at our Runcorn head office.

The Responsibilities of the Financial Controller

To oversee all accounting functions in the business. Ensure that all accounting records are appropriately kept and that every reported result complies with accounting standards and legislation.

  1. Managing all day-to-day accounting operations - this includes Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
  2. Coordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting and reporting any variances.
  3. Preparing and publishing all monthly financial statements.
  4. Creating reports (annual and monthly) which identifies results, trends and forecasts.
  5. Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed and reported properly.
  6. Making sure reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations.
  7. Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls.
  8. Streamlining and improving all operations and accounting systems.
  9. Coordinating the management of cash flow, debt and debt collection.
  10. Supervising and managing financial department staff.
  11. Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required.
  12. Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes.
  13. Presenting reports to senior executives and board members.

Experience Required

  • Fully competent with Xero financial software (Essential)
  • Proven track record in financial management and reporting.
  • Experience in implementing financial systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Previous experience in interim or contract finance roles is advantageous.

Qualifications & Skills for the Financial Controller:

  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) Essential
  • Experience in a similar finance role.
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software (essential).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
