Financial Controller

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a dynamic and growing company in the Loughton area. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing the financial operations of the business. If you are an experienced and qualified finance professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for driving financial excellence, we would love to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities:

Finance:

1. Manage and ensure full awareness of all ledgers
2. Prepare and post nominal journals
3. Ensure timely closure of ledgers at month–end
4. Prepare monthly management accounts and associated reports
5. Confirm stock cut–off and calculate/check gross margin
6. Oversee Purchase Ledger BACS payment runs
7. Prepare VAT returns and year–end audit schedules
8. Prepare draft financial statements

Cash Management:

1. Monitor cashflow to maintain daily cash levels

Stock & Shipping:

1. Understand and audit the E5 pricing model in Excel and Java
2. Ensure accurate stock list and correct average cost calculation
3. Involvement in annual stock take and audits
4. Reconcile perpetual inventory counts
5. Review weekly shipping schedules
6. Oversee environmental returns for packaging and batteries

Foreign Exchange (FX):

1. Manage foreign currency and letters of credit
2. Oversee foreign supplier payments

IT:

1. Maintain systems with minimal downtime
2. Recommend improvements to work practices and system enhancements

Tax:

1. Oversee quarterly corporation tax payments
2. Prepare tax schedules and review year–end tax returns

Property Investment:

1. Authorise payments and arrange cash transfers
2. Review monthly cash calls and payments
3. Manage loan accounts and interest calculations
4. Maintain property investment spreadsheets and year–end schedules
