Financial Controller

FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

We are looking for a motivated Financial Controller to lead day to day finance operations plus provide key insights to support the Leadership Team in this luxury leather goods brand. The right candidate will have the opportunity to grow within the role, working closely with the CFO and gain exposure across the business during a period of high growth.

This role reports directly into the CFO and is supported by a Finance Assistant and part-time bookkeeper.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations

• Day-to-day responsibility for the accounting and bookkeeping functions, ensuring general ledger is well maintained including fixed assets register
• Clear and accurate financial reporting for four legal entities – working closely with external accountants to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory and financial regulations
• Lead the Finance Assistant across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring clean ledgers and efficient cashflow management
• Execution of weekly payment run and monthly payroll
• Oversee ERP system (Brightpearl) and Accounting software (Xero) to maintain master data integrity, and take an active role in future system implementation

Reporting

• Produce sales reporting for weekly trade meeting and mid week flash, working with commercial, merchandising and operations teams to resolve any discrepancies in the data
• Preparation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow), including clear commentary on variances
• Deliver monthly reforecast by department, working closely with department heads on variance to forecast and any risk/opportunities to plan

Treasury & Compliance

• Preparation of 13 week rolling cashflow forecasting
• Responsible for FX monitoring and communication to the business; input on future hedging strategies
• Support with implementation and maintenance of strong internal controls
• Preparation and filing of quarterly UK VAT Returns and monthly US Sales Tax
• Year-End accounts preparations in collaboration with external accountants

PERSONAL COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

• Will consider an experienced Controller, or a Finance Manager ready to step up
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA accredited (full or part qualified)
• Data driven and analytical with strong presentation and communication skills
• Experience of multi currency, multi entity consolidation
• Highly motivated, with a continuous improvement mindset; comfortable with pace and change
• Experience with Xero, BrightPearl, Microsoft BI preferred
• Luxury background preferred, or an understanding/appreciation of the luxury market
